Hope you enjoys these results. We have a two-parter again today, you can see the second part of the results here. Trust me, part two is extremely interesting. ;)
Without further ado, here are the Survey 12 results. Huzzah!
Conclusions
- Dr. Guliuzza is an amazing chapel speaker.
- Despite what the world may think of us, most PHCers, homeschooled saw Star Wars before coming to school. :-P
- No PHCers who were not primarily homeschooled saw Star Wars at PHC. They either saw it before or have never seen it.
- Most people like the classical music in the coffee shop.
- Guys are 15% more likely than girls to like Classical music and about 10% more likely to like Jazz. Girls are 15% more likely to like acoustic and more likely to want oldies and soundtrack/musicals.
- There were many comments, however, that it would be nice to mix it up a little. If we can only have one style, classical is the winner, but most students would like to vary it a little.
- My favorite suggestion from the comments: Oldies Fridays :) (After business hours, of course) ;)
- By nearly 75%, PHCers are more likely to sacrifice learning the material in order to get better grades.
- From the few people I've talked to, we tend to see learning the material as something we can do more fully later...hence, when push comes to shove, let's make sure our GPA doesn't suffer any more than it already has.
- Supposedly, the junior class is the most likely to value learning the material over grades. The sophomore class is the most likely to value grades over learning the material. There is no substantial difference between guys and girls when it comes to valuing grades/learning the material.
- PHCers are more or less split on the best way to accept a compliment, but deflecting praise is clearly the most popular.
- Guys are 10% more likely than girls to deflect praise and girls are 10% more likely than guys to share the story.
- Each class has entirely different results with no discernible pattern. :-/
- Sixty-percent of students approve of the Senate's job this year. Thirty-three percent are neutral and about 7% disapprove.
- "Dear PHC, Just in case you are wondering, the Senate loves you too. – Senate" ;)
- Fifty-five percent of students are not affected by the changes in financial aid. About 20% will have to take the school's loan and about 6% do not think they will be able to return to school.
- About sixty-percent of students say that PHC on balance neither helps nor hinders relationships.
- The other two results are decently balanced as well, with 23% saying the PHC community helps and 18% saying the PHC community hinders.
- For advice on how the PHC community can better help foster healthy relationships, I recommend reading Part II. ;)
- Thirty-three percent of students tried to answer the bonus question. 42% didn't answer because the survey is supposed to be fun, not homework. Only 17 students go the answer correct.
- Those of you who used online calculators...many of those had rounding errors or didn't compound continuously.
- The correct answer to the bonus question is 131210637. :)
That's all! Enjoy the results.
